Born in 1976 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, Reese Forbes started skateboarding in Washington, D.C. at Freedom Plaza. In 1995, he turned pro with Element Skateboards.
In 2002, Forbes teamed up with the newly formed Nike SB. Forbes is referred to as “Part of the Original Nike SB Team Nucleus".
Since then, Forbes has played a pivotal role in designing some of Nike SB's most influential and experimental releases. His creations showcase a diverse use of materials, ranging from pig suede to denim and burlap, often presented in earth-toned colorways.
The Nike SB Dunk Low 'Gatherer' is one of Forbes' designs that never reached the public, likely due to the potential impracticality of the upper materials. The shoe boasts a predominantly brown seagrass interweave upper on the mid-panel, toe box, and tongue. Brown corduroy dresses the overlays and Swoosh. Completing the look are macrame hemp laces, a brown speckled midsole, and a brown outsole and interior lining.
The interior of the shoe is marked with a sample stamp and the pair features a sample hangtag attached. The hangtag identifies the shoe as a "Nike Dunk Low Gatherer V1" and indicates the completion date as 07/08/03.
